Jewellery Care

Silver oxidises naturally over time but can be cleaned gently with warm soapy water and a soft cloth.  Hard to reach places can be cleaned with an old, worn, soft toothbrush and soapy water and dried with a soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals.

Some of my pieces have been finished with applied oxidation to enhance their sculptural qualities.  Care should be taken not to polish these areas too much to preserve the oxidation.

The best way to keep your silver jewellery looking shiny is to enjoy it and wear it often. However, here are a few tips which may help:-

Suggest jewellery is removed before sleeping.

Remove rings before immersing jewellery in water and keep them somewhere safe.

Remove jewellery if you're involved in any activity which could damage it.

Don’t wear jewellery in the swimming pool because of the chemicals.

Avoid spraying jewellery with perfume or hair products.

Fasten chains together when storing to avoid tangling, or fasten chains and store them by hanging separately.

Suggest that jewellery is stored separately in a lined box or case, so that the jewellery doesn’t rub together or become tangled.
