I love natural form and was inspired by the shape and scale of the top of a poppy seed head I found growing on my allotment.
I thought is looked sculptural and that it would make a really interesting stud earring. I carefully dried it out over a few months and then I cast it to preserve it permanently and be able to replicate it.
Here I have cast the poppy seed head in sterling silver and made them into solid silver stud earrings with the addition of a sterling silver pins and butterfly backs and added a touch of black oxide to accentuate the shape and add interest.
The earrings are roughly round but irregular in shape which I believe adds to their charm. They measure 6.5 mm at their widest point and are a good size for everday wear. The studs are not hallmarked because they are under the weight for hallmarking.
These stud earrings would make a lovely present for a special person, a friend or for yourself.
