These earrings were originally directly cast by me in solid sterling silver and then by the traditional process of 'lost wax' casting.
 
Direct casting preserved every delicate, organic detail and the beautifully tactile, slightly irregular shape which adds to the charm and unique qualities.  These poppy seed head stud earrings capture a perfect balance between natural form and modern, minimalist design.

Design:  Direct organic casting of real poppy seed head and then transformed into stud earrings with the addition of earring posts and butterfly-back fixings.
Shape and Size:  The studs are roughly round but slightly irregular in shape. They measure 6.5 mm at their widest point which makes them a ideal size for everyday wear.
Style:  Post and scroll butterfly-back fittings for pierced ears.
Finish:  Softly polished to highlight the natural shape.  The sterling silver studs have a touch of black oxide to accentuate their sculptural shape and add interest.
