Image a shady woodland walk in autumn with fallen acorns under your feet.

I wanted to make my sister something inspired by nature, a special present for a special birthday and I decided to make an acorn pendant.

I searched for the perfect acorn for ages before I found this one when I was walking the woods at Powis Castle in Wales.

The acorn has been carefully chosen for it's wearable, size, weight and detail. It was hand cast from the original acorn and carefully handcrafted into this delightful pendant. I only made three of these, my sister has one, there are only two left.

The acorn is attached to a belcher-type chain by a jump ring, added after casting. The pendant measures 425 mm (16.73 inches) from end to end including the lobster catch. This allows the acorn to nestle comfortably just below the collar bone as shown in the photograph.  Because it is solid silver, the acorn has a nice weight to it.

The chain is fastened with a lobster catch and I have cut out a tiny silver oak leaf detail, based on the shape and proportions of a real oak leaf.

The oak leaf has been hand engraved to represent the veins on an oak leaf. The silver oak leaf dangles from the lobster catch by a jump ring.

Details on the acorn and the oak leaf have been enhanced by the addition of applied oxidation.

The hallmark for Birmingham has deliberately been applied to the side of the acorn as a decorative feature.

All the connecting jump rings have been hand soldered to keep them secure.

This solid silver acorn pendant would be suitable for someone special who loves and appreciates nature.
